Confined Space Training

Confined Space Training

Safety programs are enhanced by robust training initiatives to ensure that employees fully understand and are capable of implementing all facets of the safety program. JH Consulting, LLC was retained by United Electrical Services, Inc. (UES) of Core, West Virginia to design a custom confined space training module and to deliver the module to UES employees. UES needed the training for one of its new contracts. Starting with a foundation of confined space material from a basic OSHA-30 course for industry as well as UES’s own operational policies, JH Consulting’s safety consultants tailored the module to situations electrical contractors might actually face. Generally, the training module covered assigning the entrant, attendant, and supervisor titles correctly (as well as the associated duties with each title), all aspects of safely entering a confined space, and a host of permitting requirements (e.g., when a confined space is considered ’permit-required’, how to complete the permit, when/how to revise the permit, when the permit expires, etc.). Finally, the module included personal protective equipment considerations, such as when a respirator is needed and the type of respirator that would be needed.
